Frequently Asked Questions

Honest answers, in plain words. If your question isn’t here, the Contact page is one click away — and a real person replies.

Is this a group tour?

No — that’s the whole point. Echo Expeditions is a one-to-one (or one family/small circle) companion service. You never travel as part of a big group, and the itinerary belongs to you alone.

Who exactly travels with me?

A verified, trained Echo Expeditions companion, matched to you by language, temperament and interests. You’ll meet them on a video call before the journey, and you may request a female companion or a specific language speaker.

Is it safe to travel with a companion I've just met?

Safety is our first design principle: companions are background-verified, itineraries can be shared live with your family contact, accommodation is always separate, and we follow written emergency protocols. Our full code is on the Ethics & Boundaries page.

I'm a senior citizen / travelling with elderly parents. Can you manage that?

Gladly — travellers 45+ and senior citizens are the heart of Echo Expeditions. We plan doctor-aware pacing, accessible stays and transport, medicine schedules, and give family members updates along the way if you wish.

Can you really time a trip around Theyyam or the boat races?

Yes. Theyyam season runs roughly October to May in North Malabar, and the major vallam kali races fall around August–September. We plan festival journeys months ahead so you’re standing in the right kavu or on the right riverbank on the right day.

Is the 'healing journey' a form of therapy?

No. We provide quiet places, gentle pacing and a caring presence — not counselling, therapy or medical care. Many guests travel alongside advice from their own professionals, and we happily coordinate with that.

How much does it cost?

Every journey is custom, so prices vary with duration, region and season. You receive one itemised, transparent quote covering companion service, planning and agreed logistics — no hidden commissions. Tell us your wish and budget and we’ll design within it.

How far in advance should I book?

For festival journeys, 2–6 months. For most others, 3–6 weeks is comfortable. For urgent “before it’s too late” journeys we offer priority planning — write to us immediately and we’ll move fast.

Do you arrange visas, flights and insurance?

We guide you through all three and handle domestic logistics end-to-end. International flights and visas remain in your name; we make sure nothing is missed and travel insurance is in place before we set out.

What if I want to change plans mid-journey?

Then we change them — that’s the luxury you’re paying for. Your companion rearranges bookings on the go. If a change adds costs, you approve them first, in writing, before anything is spent.

Which parts of India do you cover?

All of it — the Himalayas to Kanyakumari, Kerala’s backwaters and Malabar to Rajasthan, Varanasi and the North-East. If your wish lives somewhere we haven’t been, we’ll research it like it’s our own.

Can two friends or a couple share one companion?

Yes. The service suits individuals, couples, and small family circles up to about four people — beyond that, personal attention starts to dilute, and we’d rather say no than water it down.
